Stay well this festive season

Winter is often the time we succumb to colds and flu symptoms.Whether you catch these viruses is down to your overall level of health and vitality.Now is the time to boost your immunity and improve your defence system.

Look after your gut: Our gut has good and bad bacteria and yeasts that provide the foundation of our immune system.Having adequate GOOD gut flora is very important by eating probiotic and fermented foods and beverages, such as raw sauerkraut and fermented kefir and kombucha tea.

Take Vitamin D: Is a fat-soluble vitamin that is different from other vitamins because our bodies can make most of what we need with exposure to sunlight.Vitamin D plays a role in calcium absorption into the bones.Supplements for example: “Wild oil “ Vit D3..Take a few drops each day all winter. Increase the intake of your oily fish like Salmon organic eggs,Sardines,Mackerel,Tuna  and Mushrooms.

Vitamin C: It is readerly available in fruit and green veggie and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Zinc: Is an essential part of our immune cells, it is found in meat,  calves liver, seafood and nuts and seeds, especially pumpkin seeds.

Avoid Sugar: Sugar will suppress your immunity it also feed the bacteria, viruses and fungus and promotes mucous, this will prolong the infection.Cut out all cakes, biscuits, sweets, sugar drinks, sodas,  and refined sugar.

Garlic and Ginger: Is an antimicrobial and ginger is an anti-inflammatory.Add them both to your cooking or add ginger to hot water with a slice of lemon first thing in the morning.

Anti Oxidants: 

  • Eat lots of red fruits
  • Goji berries,Wild blueberries
  • Dark chocolate:
  • Pecans
  • Artichoke
  • Elderberries
  • Kidney beans
  • Cranberries

Fortunately nature provides us with numerous options  to help us improve our health and well being.
